Hugh,

I recall a thread on the "Red Flags" on Navy Lugers. One was that the striations on the sides of the sight are exact, with dull ends and even across the bottom on repros. They are uneven in length on originals, and terminate in a point at the center of the cross pin.

The top photo is an original sight.
