Hi Eymen, The P08 Persian is much rarer than the LP08, in the US at least. Does it have all matching numbered parts?

I agree... The Persian guns are rare in any condition... This is a nice example. All numbers will be in Farsi script, and I THINK that the last two digits in Farsi should be in most of the places where normal serial numbers are found.
If all numbers match, I definitely wouldn't shoot it! Too rare.

unfortunately I do not know whether it has all matching parts, since the owner does not know himself either... He lives in another city in Turkey, so I must pay him a visit first to see its condition... I guess this configuration is also very rare here as well, since I never heard of any other example untill now.

Very cool!
Does anyone know the translation of the toggle inscription??? It seems much too long for just "DWM"...

It wouldn't say DWM, both the P08 and LP08 Persians were made by Mauser.

Your serial number 1273 looks good on the surface except for a minor discrepancy.
Of the exterior small parts serial numbers that are visible in the photographs, all are marked correctly with the 73 except for the extractor. There the number appears to be 37, i.e. the numbers are reversed. This could simply be a marking error as I am sure the Mauser employees were not fluent in Farsi, or less likely the extractor was swapped out at some time in its life. It would be good to have photographs of the front of the frame and the bottom of the barrel. The interior small parts should also be examined for correct serialization as well as the magazine which should have the Persian inspection mark as well as the full serial number. BTW, the delivery to the Persians consisted of the P.08, the lP.08, and 50 cutaway models. They looked like the photograph attached. Excuse the poor quality. Hope this helps. John |

The text on the right side of the receiver says: Pistol Model 1314, the year of the Muslim calendar which, in years, started 622 years behind ours. The Safe and Loaded indicators are also in Farsi. Interestingly, the LP.08s were made primarily from DWM parts transferred to Mauser in 1930 or thereabouts. John |

If I am not mistaken, this particular gun ended up in the either the Collectors Firearms Collection, or the Simpson's Ltd collection. I don't recall the price it sold for, but I am sure it was in the many thousands of dollars. It is not often that you get to see a Luger just as it came from the factory...

... or continuing my last post, as an alternative one can find this one at the price of about
USD 4,50.00 but also in this case it has ben rebarreled cal. 30 Luger... which means that its real collectible value is strongly reduced. Sergio

It would be here in the US, perhaps a bit high for me. It all depends on your market.
