Went to the range today, brought several WWII guns
1944 Browning High Power, 1918 Erfurt P08 (one of Ted's first restorations), 1942 VIS 35 Radom, 1944 BYF P38, and a 1944 Remington 1911A1. Target distance was 30'. I was using 3x5" index cards with a sticky for targets. To set a baseline for my shooting I took my CZ P01Tactical. Its the most accurate hand gun I have. Bullets are 124g lrn or 124g plated. I started with the CZ. Had no problem keeping 5 round groups on the card. Next was the P38. Not at all as easy VIS 35 Radom followed Browning High Power P08 1911A1 P08 was the most accurate, next the 1911A1. Worst was the BHP. Trigger is really bad. I had no stoppages of any type. Granted the sights aren't modern, they are old and not as accurate but every one would have done their job. |

Your results with your P-38 mirror my results with mine. I like shooting the pistol, but never pleased with the results. Maybe I need to shoot it more.
I usually am pleased with shooting my Lugers, BHPs, and 1911s, but I am not a Camp Perry quality shooter....never have been. I still enjoy competing against myself these days. Thanks for your post, I enjoyed it. |

My byf43 p38 shoots low left and is much less accurate than my 1915 DWM Luger.
