Default Odd Holster Morbid story

Gentlemen Can anyone help me out with this? I am being offered this from a trusted collector friend of mine who picked this up and I may or may not purchase it.

The story goes as this from the veterans wife. The gentlman who brought this home was attached to a Grave registration unit and was assinged to bury bodies in Normandy just days after the d-day landings.

He picked this pistol off of a decomposing german paratrooper, I can go more into depth with this when I have more free time.

Needless to say the pistol is really rough the finish is eaten away it looks like it was on a body for days.

My question is the holster here are my questions about it.

Why only one belt hanger?

Why no Magazine compartment.

No Markings.

Has anyone seen these before?

Walter..This holster started out as an Artillery with an 8 inch barrel and a stock attachment. It was modified likely during the Weimar period into a holster for a 4 inch pistol by shortening the barrel length, stripping off the stock anttachment and cleaning rod sleeve. You will see 2 lines of stitching holes running up the right side to the toe.
A belt loop was attached instead of a stock and there you have it. No magazine pouch cause there never was one.
