Odd Holster Morbid story
7 Attachment(s)
Gentlemen Can anyone help me out with this? I am being offered this from a trusted collector friend of mine who picked this up and I may or may not purchase it.
The story goes as this from the veterans wife. The gentlman who brought this home was attached to a Grave registration unit and was assinged to bury bodies in Normandy just days after the d-day landings. He picked this pistol off of a decomposing german paratrooper, I can go more into depth with this when I have more free time. Needless to say the pistol is really rough the finish is eaten away it looks like it was on a body for days. My question is the holster here are my questions about it. Why only one belt hanger? Why no Magazine compartment. No Markings. Has anyone seen these before? |
Walter..This holster started out as an Artillery with an 8 inch barrel and a stock attachment. It was modified likely during the Weimar period into a holster for a 4 inch pistol by shortening the barrel length, stripping off the stock anttachment and cleaning rod sleeve. You will see 2 lines of stitching holes running up the right side to the toe.
A belt loop was attached instead of a stock and there you have it. No magazine pouch cause there never was one. |
