Default 1906 question

a question for you guys......am fixing to purchase a really nice 06 eagle, 9mm.....but, no proof marks on the reciever....however, that is ok for this paticular commercial, right????

That is correct. 1906 American Eagles normally had no proofs if they came directly from the factory to the United States. I notice that on the Luger of the month there is a stamp on the left side of the receiver. I can't really make it out. My 1906 Eagle had no barrel proofs, receiver proofs or external stamps of any kind (only the word Germany and the serial number in the commercial locations).

I agree with Bill's assessment that the GERMANY stamped commercials normally are not proofed, but there are exceptions to this that follow no set pattern. In the data base that I have there may be a small group of serial numbers that are proofed, and then skip several thousand before the proof shows up again. Also, as Bill stated, the commercials without the GERMANY stamp are normally proofed.

thanks fellows....checked 6 others, and all marked germany, and all either proofed with bu or lazy crown n,,,guess this was the first one i have seen just like this...appreciate the response
