1906 question

Re: 1906 question

That is correct. 1906 American Eagles normally had no proofs if they came directly from the factory to the United States. I notice that on the Luger of the month there is a stamp on the left side of the receiver. I can't really make it out. My 1906 Eagle had no barrel proofs, receiver proofs or external stamps of any kind (only the word Germany and the serial number in the commercial locations).

Re: 1906 question

I agree with Bill's assessment that the GERMANY stamped commercials normally are not proofed, but there are exceptions to this that follow no set pattern. In the data base that I have there may be a small group of serial numbers that are proofed, and then skip several thousand before the proof shows up again. Also, as Bill stated, the commercials without the GERMANY stamp are normally proofed.
