Default Carbine Forearm Tangs

I'm looking at two carbine forearm tangs; they are quite different...

Should I ever come across one (or both) of these, exactly what are they indicative of???

Are there other types of carbine tangs??? Were these 'custom' conversions, with a variety of different tangs???

I've already see several different forends [wood]...

Was there a master pattern??? More than one manufacturer/shop making them???

It may be just the image quality, but the second tang looks like a crude, homemade replacement for a lost or damaged original. Is it numbered to the gun in a similar font?

Authentic 1902 carbines are all pretty much the same, if not all the same. 1920 and after carbines are a strange animal, I've never seen two the same and I have been to one end of the internet and back doing research, anybody and everybody would make you one. I talked to the historian at a large gun dealer and he is researching A&F guns, but his A&F records only go back to 1928, so he was no help to me. In my opinion, they are not fakes to decieve, they are what they are, only buy the gun in front of you and not the story. There is no source of info or documentation on them, no books devoted to them. From all I can tell, they were all put together from different parts of difference guns. Some of the prettiest ones, John Martz made. I have no idea where mine came from for sure, but the barrell is stamped A&F and I can live with that.

The tang has been added to your carbine, you can tell by the
ciluar mark on the bottom of your tang.
Thanks George

Hi George! I see the mark (I think), but what does 'ciluar' mean???

(Or is it a mis-spelling?)

I went outside and it like a flush bolt maybe a kind of anchor. Its definitly and added anchor proboble due to the more powerful 9mm. Nice spoting!! A lot of attention to detail went into it. Even the stock is beautiful! Does anyone know the range of serial numbers or how many! If theres a particular aspect you wish to explore, Ill be glad to take some pics or maybe lend it to you some weekend! Just Kidding!
