Hi,
Gustloff points to 'Wilhelm Gustloff'. Leader of the Swiss nazi-party who was assasinated in the mid 30's by a Jewish student. An organization inherited his name and the famous holiday ship, later hospital ship 'Wilhem Gustloff' was named after him. Several (Jewish) companies were taken over by the German government in the late 1930's and were placed under control of the "Wilhelm Gustloff Stiftung" (foundation), including Simson. "In this connection, a few words may be added about a typical Party enterprise, Gustloff Foundation, which was founded on 'aryanised' property, the Suhl gun factory in Thuringia, in honour of Wilhelm Gustloff, a Nazi agent in Switzerland, who was shot in 1934, and which soon turned into a not unimportant machine-tool and armament combine, consisting of six companies, among them the famous Austrian Hirtenberg munitions factory. This combine is run solely by the Party, that is, by the Thuringen gauleiter Sauckelâ?¦Nothing is known of the finances of the Foundation since, like the Hermann G?¶ring Werke, it does not publish balance sheets or profit and loss accounts." --Ted Grant, 1948. |
