Hi,

These are commercial 4mm practice kits. They cannot be compared with the 22 longrifle army subcalibre inserts.

These kits are simple, one-shot sets which relied on some trickery to place a 4mm round in the chamber, close the toggle, fire, get it out again, etc....

Some used dummy rounds to hold the 4mm cartridge, others used a 'spoon' to place a cartrigde in the chamber.

The first version was marketed by Genschow, later followed by R.W.S. in Germany. The are mentioned in a 1922 publication, so they have been around for a while. Sadly, I have no info on Lienhard.
