Hi,

These are commercial 4mm practice kits. They cannot be compared with the 22 longrifle army subcalibre inserts.

These kits are simple, one-shot sets which relied on some trickery to place a 4mm round in the chamber, close the toggle, fire, get it out again, etc....

Some used dummy rounds to hold the 4mm cartridge, others used a 'spoon' to place a cartrigde in the chamber.

The first version was marketed by Genschow, later followed by R.W.S. in Germany. The are mentioned in a 1922 publication, so they have been around for a while. Sadly, I have no info on Lienhard.

If you can buy it, then why not? ;) Fun things to own!

Lienhard is a Swiss product - it is genious idea like he designed to fire just with primers instead of the 4mm M20 cardridge used by the Germans.
The first kit I haven´t seen before, but the second has the large cardridge for the M31 Swiss rifle and the small 7,65 mm Luger cardridge. However on the second one is missing a part to use in the Luger pistol.
