Hi Luke,
I don't think that's the case. As far as I know - and I'm not certain - "designated site" relates more to security. This could be your home but gun safes and other security measures would be required. Each pistol would be added to your licence prior to purchase. I think that the police retain a right of inspection at times of their choosing to ensure that regs are complied with. The obsolete calibres in Section 7.1 - such as a Reichsrevolver - can be kept without any particular security measure as it is considered that ammunition is not readily obtainable.
I may be corrected in this - Tacfoley will be the man to do it - if I'm wrong.
By the way, I rather enjoyed Ron's sense of humour too - considerably more subtle than that of the guy who told me it was matching.
