The buckle is WWII German officer configuration. Period pictures usually show officers in the field wearing a belt with a buckle that is a bit heavier and which has square corners. This type, with the rounded corners I usually associate with a "dress" or off duty belt. Don't know if that is right or not. It is just that the pictures show officers in the field usually wearing the heavier type of buckle while the other type buckle is seen in pictures where the officers are at parade, etc., i.e, paticipating in some function other than combat/manuevers/trainging. I know of no authority that states that NCOs wore any type of buckle other than the EM box buckle. Regards, |
