Murray, Sounds about the same here in the U.S.
Yes, I make double thickness artillery boots, just like the Germans, Hand stitched with linen thread. The steel rivets are hand hammered on. The early boot was the same only they stitched where the rivets are. Let me know and I will send you some photo's. Jerry Burney
