Dave, sounds like a really nice rig! I have several friends that like matching mag guns, let alone two!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
Does your Luger have a sear safety? That would point definately to it being a police Luger. The holster sounds like a police holster, and many (most) were made in Berlin for the police. Can you provide pictures, either scanned in or digital? I can help with posting them if you'd like? Let me help a bit: 1. s/42 ** Made by Mauser, this was their "code" 2. year of manufacture(1939) 3. toggle knob **good** 4. no grip safety **correct** 5.stock lug is present **good** 6. the grips .. are marked with last two of serial # **excellent** 7.thumb safety **correct** 8. no markings on grip, only marking on frame is a fancy n, **N block, I will need to look this up** 3 birds on right side of slide toward barrel **are proof and acceptance stamps**: 1st bird wings out appears to be holding 83 2nd bird wings out appears to be holding 63 3rd bird wings down no numbers Another bird like the third on barrel, right past the markingsd on slide Under barrel, toward frame serial #,with 8.83 under it. **equals the land to land of the rifeling** 9.barrel is standard length, from several others i have seen, but do not have a ruler **good** 10.marking on left side of extractor, appears to be a g,or 6,cant see any other markings on the extractor 11.rear sight is a pretty fine v notch, front shaped like a triangle, with left, and right adjustment, ramp is checked, front part of blade is rounded **?? I think fine** 12.mag bottom is aluminum (have two, both matching this weapons serial # which is 75xx) are marked with serial # across the big round part of mag bottom, fancy n,under that, with +,under that, and a bird with wings out, holding appears to be 63. **excellent** A sear safety would look like this (a good posting by Ron earlier): ![]()
