This is unlikely to impossible to be a German name.
I would bet money this is a US GI, who put their name on a trophy, as the serial number is like ours was, and the last name of Martin. Welcome to the forum, pictures can help a lot, what are you trying to find out? You might want to check in this section for otehr 1940 marked guns. That is the year it was made, the model is actualy the 1908 (i.e. P08), made by Mauser, on the toggle it should be marked S/42 or 42?? Ed
