broomhandle value?

I don’t think that was a bad price.

They are not out there anymore, the piles of surplus ones as seen in the 90s or so will never be seen again.

The bluing has a little value, for someone looking for a decent shooter this was probably a good candidate, especially so since these old surplus ones were all pretty much imported with shot out bores and no bluing and at least a fair amount of pitting.

I have looked at prices on broomhandle off and on the last few months and of course the nice ones are pretty pricey, but even the well worn beaters are right up there, and probably not getting any cheaper.
