I believe I can safely say that no original extractors are "bare metal"; all were either blue and the 1900 types strawed.

Some of the Blued ones are a little "red", but not because they are spring steel, but due to steel/bluing salt composition.

Now if you mean ejector- they are spring steel and again either blue or straw, the only time one is "bare" is if all the finish is worn away.
