This is my second luger in 1 month. It's a 1939 Mauser 42 with 4 inch barrel. All the numbers match even the grips. Magazine looks original to that era. Finish is excellent.

Right there with ya. Any chance you could take some higher definition photos, maybe out in the shade when the Sun's out?

Must be something in the air ;) Mine just came today, and I started a thread about it about an hour go!

As for HD photos, I use a cheap digital camera that is not so good on closeups.
As for the extractor on my pistol, what are you talking about re; the difference?

Major Tom 05-24-2017 08:44 AM

Reading from my books on luger manufacture, when the extractor was blued the color changed to various reds/oranges due to the steel being 'spring steel'. I like the color on mine instead of the bare metal finish.

I believe I can safely say that no original extractors are "bare metal"; all were either blue and the 1900 types strawed.

Some of the Blued ones are a little "red", but not because they are spring steel, but due to steel/bluing salt composition.

Now if you mean ejector- they are spring steel and again either blue or straw, the only time one is "bare" is if all the finish is worn away.
