Hi, Looks like a good example of a 1936 Luger.
You got it for a normal collector price, especially if it's all original, in original finish and matching. You might carefully remove the plate. It looks like the adhesive may have affected the finish on the edges (seem in the white) so you may find a mess under it. Most gum adhesives can be removed using WD-40 to slowly dissolve the glue. Same chemical as "GooGone". If you remove the plate, don't leave the WD-40 on the gun. Be sure to clean it and lubricate it with a good preserving gun oil like RemOil.
