It depends on whatever meaning a company gave to a marking. These punches are relatively standard items and pretty common in every factory workshop, so they are available.
I remember that Mauser used a heart shaped punch to identify a certain batch of frames in the 1970s. In other words, they used what they had available for whatever purpose they needed ![]() |
