I also bought this later edition and it is excellent. Truly Joachim Gortz and Dr. Sturgess' life's work.

It is remarkably thorough and (while there may be inaccuracies) the best reference I'm aware of.

The PDF copy is very convenient, especially when traveling or at gunshows. You can review it from smaller screens like PDAs, Phones and Tablets that have PDF viewers. The color photographs are in very high resolution in the PDF file.

The organization of the Red covered later edition is generally chronological, and it makes sense the way the history is presented.

While this masterwork seems expensive, I think it's worth every penny.
