What are your thoughts on this book with respect to quality and accuracy of information. How many own it?

Hi Richard, It's far and away the most complete and accurate book ever written about the Luger and it's accessories. It is a monumental achievement, and the collector community is in Dr. Sturgess' debt.
I own two copies, both the early edition with the green covers and the later one bound in red. The late one is the one to get, mainly because it comes with a disc containing a digital copy.

I also bought this later edition and it is excellent. Truly Joachim Gortz and Dr. Sturgess' life's work.

It is remarkably thorough and (while there may be inaccuracies) the best reference I'm aware of.

The PDF copy is very convenient, especially when traveling or at gunshows. You can review it from smaller screens like PDAs, Phones and Tablets that have PDF viewers. The color photographs are in very high resolution in the PDF file.

The organization of the Red covered later edition is generally chronological, and it makes sense the way the history is presented.

While this masterwork seems expensive, I think it's worth every penny.

I agree completely with the opinions of the above contributors, the collection of information in this three book series by Joachim Gortz and Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess is, in my opinion, absolutely the best available and definitely worth the price.

as Rich said, several threads on this and the Previous version which Sturgess was not happy with. So a search may give you some other insight.

I had the original set and thought it good, but jumbled in chronological order, this latest version is very good.

--- see below, my concern on Simson was that Geoff wrote that the S toggle (or code as many look at it) were all stamped through out production or you can read it as after - but the truth is, I have a database of mixed Simson and Co and S toggle from 11a till production end

A small issue perhaps, but one that I have studied and was out in our book 7 years ago.

Sometimes big is too big!!! I always revert back to Jans' books as they seperate lugers into distint and seperate luger periods and histories! He is brilliant in his approach! Does anyone know his order of publication? Thank You Sir!! Eric

The Red Set is very good. In most respects it is the epitome of Luger knowledge.

It is not perfect.
