It was a different time before the war~~Private ownership is the reason they survived so fine, I'm sure!!~~~

Eric,
many perhaps most of the Lugers between 39000 and 60000 were purchased from officers. A evidence is the hold open- is it without hold open (Bavarian, or Württemberg) or added hold open (Prussian or Saxon) than it is a Luger that was an officer’s purchase.
