When I was five Grandma used to take me to the Jense Beach Womens Club that was often hosted by Francis Langford. Francis was married to Ralph Evenrude who bought her a sixty foot yaught the Santa Clair. Grandma took me and I met Mrs Langford. I remember she wore those 3 foot wide dresses. Francis Langford was America's answer to Britain's Vera Lynn during the war. We also had Kate Smith, Dinah Shore and Doris Day.
