A lot of talented Guild gunsmiths modified WW1 Mausers into sporting rifles between the wars. The ones I've seen were extremely nice. Yours appears to be full stocked and I'll bet that it has a horn buttplate. Too bad that your grandfather didn't get the scope too. You can certainly be proud of your heirloom.
