Otto Bock Rifle
 

I've had this rifle in my collection for some time now and thought I would share it with you. My grandfather sent it back during ww2. He told me the story of how the owner of this rifle had them pinned down from a church tower with it. After blowing up the tower he retreived the rifle from the bushes near by. I have always cherished this gun and am now looking for any information I can get on it. I know someone here will be able to enlighten me.

I know nothing about the rifle, but I am really impressed with the piece. Very nice.

A lot of talented Guild gunsmiths modified WW1 Mausers into sporting rifles between the wars. The ones I've seen were extremely nice. Yours appears to be full stocked and I'll bet that it has a horn buttplate. Too bad that your grandfather didn't get the scope too. You can certainly be proud of your heirloom.

I would guess that it is a sporting rifle put to sniper use, as they had special sniper rifles? But this is not my area of expertise by any means :)

Lol.. well he did mailed the scope also but it never made it to his house?? He told me it was a sniper in the church tower and they had to get clearence before bombing due to it being a church.

Dave (ripcord810), if you are looking for a scope for your rifle with the dual claw type rings you may find what you are looking for on ebay. I have a 1917 Enfield that was sporterized in Germany in the late 1950's that had claw type mounts installed and was able to find what I wanted there from a fairly large selection. I purchased a scope with rings from a gentelman in Germany that has a large selection to choose from, if you are interested his name is Holger Walter @ germansniper1@gmx.de. Good luck, Lon
