"Ol' Slabsides" is (generally) zeroed for 50 yds with military ball ammo...might the P08 be the same with the original 9mm load?

Hi John, When first issued, in 1909, the P08 was sighted in at 100m and had a sight blade 5.0mm high. This was found to be unsatisfactory and, starting in 1913, P08s were sighted in at 50m and were fitted with a 5.5mm front sight blade. Most of the early guns, except those issued to Bavarian units, were changed to the taller blade at the same time as they were retrofitted with a hold-open. These new blades were stamped with a small C/gothic inspection mark.

Hi Tex, LP08s (Artilleries) are fitted with 800m adjustable sights. In testing it was found that the 9mm ammo, then in use, would pierce a French Infantry helmet at this distance.

Regards, Norm
