The proper way to Sight in a Luger.
I just read that the correct way to sight in a Luger is to have the sight picture with the front blade dead center at the bottom of the V of the rear sight. AND I always thought you aimed it like a conventional sight, with the front blade on top of the center of the rear, with the target resting on top of the front blade ,
Now this source says the top of the blade rests under the v of the rear, meaning you could not see it. Is this nonsense true? |
That is the way my Luger is set up. First time I shot it I was shooting way high, until I figured out that I needed to have the very tip of the front blade barely visible in the 'v' notch. Not a very good or easy to acquire sight picture, but that is what works.

tx_oil,
Do you have any idea at what distance the 4" P08 is zeroed for? "Ol' Slabsides" is (generally) zeroed for 50 yds with military ball ammo...might the P08 be the same with the original 9mm load? Regards, John C. |
Well I do know point of aim, normal sight picture for targets as far away as 60 yards

Hi Tex, LP08s (Artilleries) are fitted with 800m adjustable sights. In testing it was found that the 9mm ammo, then in use, would pierce a French Infantry helmet at this distance. Regards, Norm |
