I know of at least one case where a forum member came into possession of a gun as payment of a debt. He knew nothing about Lugers at the time. When he showed it to me years later I pointed out that the primary serial number had been removed and his possession constituted a felony. The rest of the gun was a mixture of parts. My advice was immediate destruction of the frame followed by disposal on the nearest large body of salt water. He gladly spent money to by a stripped frame to be able to keep his favorite.pistol.
