As explained in the other thread.
It was a marketing thing, which actually started in the 1930s and was resurrected in the 1960s. You won't have any luck finding one without 'original', because Mauser didn't make post-war Parabellums without it (oh, well, some commemoratives with the DWM logo). In fact it's on the post war HSc pistols as well. A keen collector will look for the different variations of the 'original Mauser' logo. The first ones were put on using an etching process. Later toggles were marked using a roll die. |
