I went online and looked at other P38 holsters of this type and comparisn with others I understand the "GI" cut Aaron mentions. Ed, That's probably what happend, A GI put together. The shop that I picked up the rig said a younger guy brought it in and that it was his Grandfathers bringback. What I do know from observation is that both the gun and the spare mag spent some time in the holster do to green(Vertigris?) on the mag and stuck in the checkering of the grips. - A side question? -What's a good way to get that green stuff out of the checkering without hurting the checkering/grips? There is not a whole lot of it. I was thinking a soft toothbrush would work -Dave
