Hi Hal, I don't know if anyone has done a study on this subject, but for what they're worth, my observations are as follows. 1st Issue unnumbered, 1910 to 1916 numbered, 1917 & 1918 erratic. I only own two 1st issues (both of which appear to have original grips), so perhaps someone with more experience than me will chip in. Regards, Norm
