No problem: it´s Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier Regiment No. 1.
I remember a holster for it.

yes, I know it is the Alexander-Rgt.
I 've collected alot of items of this Regiment during the last 20 years.
Here you can see our great-grandfather Franz. He is wearing a miter and a clarinette:

I'm looking for a luger with the KAGGR / KAGGR1 marking, but I am not sure if a luger with this marking even exists.

Thumbs up

Hello!

Is this Kaiser your relative somehow? That would be great!

Unfortunatly the Kaiser was not a relative, just the gentleman with the miter.
Well, at least the Finns were good, trustworth allies.

Andy,
I don't read german but the photo would indicate the gentleman is holding an oboe, not a clarinet. Hope this doesn't contradict family history.

Rich,
honestly, I always thought it is a clarinette.
Thanks for your information, I have to check on this.

Andy,
I´m sorry but I made a mistake. I looked at my older photos and found the holster but it´s stamp was KAGGR4 (Königin Augusta Garde Grenadier Regiment No.4). Holster was made by PAUL WARNEST BERLIN in 1911.
Regards Klaus

Thank you Klaus. Considering the excellent quality of your collection, I consider your complement high praise indeed.

Klaus,
even a KAGGR4 holster is very rare.
If you cross a KAGGR1 holster sometime, please keep me in mind.

I have a 1917 LP.08, sn 9868g, marked 1.G.G.12.9 which signifies: 1. Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier Regiment, 12 Kompagnie, Waffe no. 9. It is shown on page xxv of Imperial Lugers, Second Edition.

Here's another one for the list" I have 5.G.G.M.G.55. It is a 1912 DWM (tough date to find). Nice gun, serial 8337ns.

Nice!
I am confused. I thought always the marking for this Regiment was KAGGR1.
Is there a listing of all unit markings somewhere online?
I could not find anything.

I think that th best source of unit markings is Jeff Noll's great book "The Imperial German Regimental Marking". Wealth of information.
