kj4, Okay that's great. First, your Luger was completed about July 1941. It was then given to a soldier that was sent to the Russian Front. It was later confiscated by the Russians. It was dipped in a preservative (Blue) and stored. Probably after the collapse of the USSR, it was sold to the US gun dealers and then sold here.
The 98XXu serial number gives the approximate production date and the big "X" indicates it's Russian involvement. These Russian Capture (RC) Lugers are considered "shooters" and are worth less than a "collectable". If all the internal and external numbers match, that is the XX in the serial number, it's value is about $500. Hope this helps! |

wow i didnt know about the X pistols not being worth much. i've seen guys trying to sell these for 1500-2000.
