Gentlemen,
would the Lahti barrel thread dimmensions be identical to the Luger's?

Currious regards,

Steiner,

I have never had the opportunity to examine a Lahti barrel... but would not be surprised if they are threaded the same as the Luger P.08

I would be very interested to know this myself.

John; I'm able to answer the question myself now Sounds kinda drastic, but I unscrewed a Luger barrel to compare the two. The extractor slot is slightly different (can post a picture if you would like to see), but the threads are identical. It fits nicely into the receiver without modification. Don't think any modification is needed in the extractor slot either. Think it makes sense that many Lugers are found with these barrels.

I have an M40 Lahti and P08 Luger barrel laying here...The thread is indeed 18mm x 20tpi on each...

I'll let you draw your own conclusions on the rest...

That the conclution must be.. it is no Lahti barrel I have been fooling around with Thanks for your input!

Here are the pictures I took to compare, what it thought was a lahti barrel is to the right on both picture.

..not the best picture. The length and muzzle area is what fooled me into believeing it was from a Lahti.

Hi Steinar! I probably have the Lahti that you carried for two years in military service!

The Lahti barrel tenon is ~.160" longer; has a cut on the left for the "accelerator" cam; a notch on the right for the extractor; and the notch on the top is thinner and squarer than the Luger (you can just make this out in the 2nd pic above).

The thread is the same, and I still find this odd...

Here's my Lahti.

I have seen several Finnish Lugers on GB lately (almost bought one!) with what were described as "Tikka" barrels on them...(pic attached)...

It would be very easy to shorten a "Tikka" barrel and deepen the chamber and mount it on a Luger receiver...

It's my understanding that "Tikka" made both 4" and 5" Finnish pattern barrels for the Luger...The front sight is distinctive; different dovetail, too...

Here's the cartouche on a Finnish "Tikka" barrel...(This is on a Luger, IIRC)...

Steinar - Is your pic of a "Tikka" 5" barrel???...That would be cool on a Luger!!!

Postino, I'm fumbling in the dark about this barrel.. Glad you pointed out that it's not a Lahti.
I'm no expert, but from pictures I don't think it looks like a Tikka eighter..

Here is a picture of the barrel attached to a Luger (second from the bottom). Please share your thoughts what it can be.

Btw. never had a lahti on my belt, but occasionally a Luger

Edit: it looks scratched/rough on that last picture due to the flash, it's actually smooth and is probably unused.

I'm certainly no expert either...But that looks like a Luger front sight, not a Lahti (like in that GB pic of a Luger with Luger/Lahti in post #9 above)...

How long is it???

I will measure it when I get back from work.. From eyesight, it looks approximately 5" long (same as a Tikka barrel).
