![]() ![]() The "navy" and the Artillery" are two Names folks stuck on them from europe, and although mostly correct, the artillery was used by more than just the artillery corp. So, naming of lugers might be incorrect, but I don't think we chastise those who do... Historically, which is what byf was asking; the rumour was that the "black widow" was for SS officers, and as their uniform was all black, fit into their uniform better. All hogwash; so although the name might sound cool; it is an incorrect and thus mistake to perpetuate the myth of somehting incorrect (I will use the phrase at times, so folks will know what I am talking about). Same reason folks call all undated Simsons "model 1923", no such 'model' designation. Or write it as simpson, ignorance, they simply don't know any better. Ed
