Dave,

In my experience a stronger main spring is not necessary. I recommend the 6" barrel for a shooter. For me, the longer sight radius makes a big difference and in my opinion the longer barrel just looks better in terms of proportions. I would also recommend installing a taller front sight (fashioned from a sight blank) so that you can shoot at "point of aim" at reasonable shooting distances, like 50 feet instead of 50 meters. FYI, I recall an add from Sarco in a recent Shotgun News for 6" barrels with a navy type raised sight base. KFS
