Mehmet,
You are correct that the numbers are dates. They are stamped on the top of the chamber, and collectors commonly identify their Lugers by manufacturer and date. The Variations are identified by date also, which can be a cause for confusion. Military Lugers are designated by the date when they were accepted as the service pistol. Thus: Pistole 1904 is the official designation for German Navy Lugers. They may be found with blank chambers or dated 1916 and 1917. Pistole 1908 is the official designation for the German Army Luger. All standard German military Lugers, with any chamber date, fall under the P-08 category. In 1914 a stock lug was added to the standard P-08. Collectors have identified this as the 1914 variation. All Lugers (P-08) with a chamber date of 1914 or later are of this variation. I hope this makes things a little more clear. If it is not, or if it is not what you were asking, please try again. It is not quite clear what you wish to know about your 41 42 Luger. Perhaps if you ask the question in Deutsch someone here may understand better. --Dwight |
