Thanks for the comments guys. Now I'm confused; I've owned a couple modern HP's and never seen anything like this bushing myself !

Do I have some weird mod ? The 'bushing' I'm referring to is just like that of a 1911, but is held in place by the front sight which is staked through a hole in the bushing. The muzzle of the barrel rides through this bushing which is maybe 1/2" long.

I believe this is a mid 42 production gun which look righteous in all other aspects, has it been messed with ? I assumed it was just a production step streamlined out at a later date.


I just came across this auction and if you look at the muzzle picture and look at the tooling marks on the 'bushing' it does seem to be a seperate piece ?
