Even though I was born during the war it's hard for me to understand the depth of feelings against the (former) enemies. I understand the hatred, just don't have the same perspective to really participate in it.
I finally bought a Japanese car in '02. A WWII vet revealed to me that he could never have done it. His malice toward the nation was very much alive. I don't condone the feelings those folks have, but it is understandable due to what they experienced and the propaganda of the era. I have to fight to avoid such feelings against the Bin Ladins out there. |
