Hi,
The takedown spring is an L-shaped spring with the shorter part of the L sticking vertically into the bottom of the frame. The Longer part of the L rests flat in a small groove underneath the takedown lever in the lever hole. You certainly need one. If you fire a pistol without a takedown spring, the lever will most likely go into the dismantle position upon recoil. This will lead to the interesting experience of your pistol fieldstripping itself during operation. |
