How quickly some forget. Following Katrina, armed gangs of thugs roamed the streets in New Orleans and environs, looting and destroying with impunity. A colleague of mine from another forum, who made his millions in computer programming and retired at 45, was trapped in his renovated loft for several weeks while the gangs burned cars and looted shops beneath his converted 'trendy' warehouse. He was an avowed anti-gun advocate. But after three days of watching the carnage, he 'acquired' an AR-15 and a pump 12 gauge and was ready to defend his wife and a neighboring couple sheltering with them.

I prefer to follow Fox Mulder's advice.

I expect that all the countries we've helped over the years when they were hit by tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, civil disorder, etc will rally around and start delivering supplies of food, water, clothing, building materials, even money to the storm ravaged areas of our South. Somalia, Bosnia, Cuba, India, Bangladesh, all the nations we've sent relief to in the past will show their appreciation and compassion for our devastation...Right??? Because they're all well meaning and helpful people who remember their friends in time of need...
