I 've collected alot of items of this Regiment during the last 20 years. Here you can see our great-grandfather Franz. He is wearing a miter and a clarinette: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiser_...Regiment_Nr._1 I'm looking for a luger with the KAGGR / KAGGR1 marking, but I am not sure if a luger with this marking even exists.

Hello!
Is this Kaiser your relative somehow? That would be great! ![]() In my country we don`t have any monarchs... Just the old thing... democracy... after a country dividing civil war... Mostly peasants and such.. For more, see Internet. Sorry for my irony. ![]() No cruel meanings intended. Just everyone of us is a King... |

Andy,
Iīm sorry but I made a mistake. I looked at my older photos and found the holster but itīs stamp was KAGGR4 (Königin Augusta Garde Grenadier Regiment No.4). Holster was made by PAUL WARNEST BERLIN in 1911. Regards Klaus |

even a KAGGR4 holster is very rare. If you cross a KAGGR1 holster sometime, please keep me in mind. "Es lebe hoch das Regiment, dass sich mit Stolz Alexander nennt!" (Hail the Regiment, which is called Alexander)

Andy
I have a 1917 LP.08, sn 9868g, marked 1.G.G.12.9 which signifies: 1. Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier Regiment, 12 Kompagnie, Waffe no. 9. It is shown on page xxv of Imperial Lugers, Second Edition. Jan |

Andy,
I don't read german but the photo would indicate the gentleman is holding an oboe, not a clarinet. Hope this doesn't contradict family history.

Andy,
Luger unit markings do not include the honorary designation, so "1.G.G.xx.x" is exactly what you are looking for.

Andy
Luger marking instructions call for 1.G.G. as the format for the 1st Garde Grenadier Regiment. Gortz German Small Arms Markings (page 20, 40) identifies this as "Kaiser Alexander Garde -Grenader-Regiment Nr 1". Have never seen (nor has such been reported) a Luger marked KAGGR / KAGGR1. However, I have a spiked helmet marked KAGGR1 / IB Only small arms were subject to markings regulations. The unit markings instructions do not include honor names on pistols. However, such are rarely observed. Jan All this information is in a book and not on the net. Last edited by Jan C Still; 09-22-2009 at 01:35 AM. |
