I recently acquired this pigskin Luger holster. I was told it is East German. There are no marking that i could see. I know its not unique because there were two others the same.
Any comments?

It's the correct holster photo, Edward. I was just asking what you thought of the holster using 'Generation X' slang.
So.....is this a different holster or what?

Looks like an pigskin P-38 holster (upside down) to me...

Hi All,
I have encountered examples of this standard "ersatz" pebble grain and pigskin holsters configured with a take-down tool pouch uner the bucket. Some have been waffened (sold the last one a couple of weeks ago) and some not. Most were pigskin. Based strictily on a SWAG, I postulate thet these were ORIGINALLY Army holsters that became police holsters under the East German authorities. I await flames from those who are a lot smarter than me! Tom,
In order to get flamed, you should have to say something volatile... Seems to me that you just spoke some common sense based on your experience and even identified it as such. Not much flammable there IMHO. BTW, I agree with your assessment. These perfectly good surplus holsters likely saw EG Police service with either a P-38 or a Luger inside them since both are a near perfect fit.
