Post 39 holster question?

I recently seen a 1939 military holster on ebay that had the P-08 stamped on the back. The first thing I thought was it's a repo. because all the books I have say that P-08 stampings didn't come out till mid 1940. Is this correct or was there any exceptions? Thanks Don

Don, There are always exceptions. Most holsters were coded after 1940 but it is relatively common to see maker marks after 1940 instead of code.

If you will lead me to the correct holster(eBay #) I will take a look at it for you. There are many ways to tell if it is a repro. Let me know, Jerry Burney

Jerry the holster is no longer on ebay to view. I was talking about the P-08 stamp not the makers code or marking. I asked the owner to send me some more pictures and if he does I will forward them to you, thanks Jerry. Don
