Post Unit marks on LP08 holster

An early LP08 holster is marked with ink inside the top flap, "1HFAR10." Any assistance in identifying the unit using this mark would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gene

Since this is a holster mark Gene, I am going to shift your message post to the Holster forum where Jerry Burney might have a better chance of seeing it.

John, Thanks for your confidence that I would know anything about these marks. I am no expert on holster markings of this type. Jan Still is and could possibly help out here but I suppose he does not visit our site very often. I spend too much time pushing a needle to study and remember all of these markings. There are some books out there that specialize in this sort of thing. German Small Arms Markings by Gortz and Bryans is an excellent one. From a quick perusal of this same book in front of me I would say Herb is pretty much on the mark. The H is bothersome however. Could mean Haupt(Quartier) , Haubitz-(Batterie). Husar etc. Maybe someone more knowlegable will chime in. Jerry Burney

I believe it is a howitzer unit. The Germans did specify howitzer units during WWI.
