What is it with women?

I don't get it. Today is the first day of deer gun season. I get up at 3:00 am. I go sit in a climbing tree stand 40' up for four hours. Come home take a nap,then go back again this afternoon. Back up a tree 40' up, sit two and a half hours, shoot a 130 lb buck (one shot through the shoulders, 100 yds off hand with a 30-30), load him up, bring him home, hang him up in the garage and go to work on him. Completely dress and clean him, cut him all up, and my wife is not happy cause she has to pack up the meat for the freezer.When I said I was going in the morning, well, I don't guess I am. Probably cause she worked twelve hours at the bakery today. Guess I'll just go coyote hunting instead.

It's the same everywhere. I don't have an answer. You either live with them or without them. I choose to live with ONE!

I'll give it a shot...

The answer is simple. They treat us like dogs.

I don't mean that in a bad way. They feed us, teach us to fetch (milk, bread, diapers), make excuses for us when we mess up in public, beat the crap out of us when we mess up at home, love us when we listen, hate us when we don't, miss us when we run away, beat the crap out of us when we come back, buy us silly clothes that look good but make us itch so we don't wear them, and try to keep us on a short leash until the constant pulling wears them out.

But we gladly tolerate it all because they take care of the puppies and scratch us behind the ear and make our legs shiver.

I really like that. The only thing you failed to mention is this thing we call a hobby, and how they just dont understand it's is an investment.

No mater how much I try to explain that buying guns is better than money in the bank, she just doesn't get it.

Thank goodness she doen't know one Luger from another or I would be in real trouble.

Back to the main gist of the thread: congratulations, rk, on getting the deer!

Most days in our lives are lost in the mists/fog of memory because of the monotony of repetition. Every once in a while a wife will add to the richness of our existence by making our life a living hell, a day, episode, or experience to remember and reminisce upon later. Without that, all our days run together and we may as well not even have lived them. Maybe this deer hunt will stand out.

Women just think a little differently that's all. They think you are silly for going out, killing a deer, skinning it, etc. when you can go to the store and buy whatever you need. They just don't understand "the whole concept of this".

I passed up a little 4 pt opening morning. My wifes comment was "huh, you can't eat horns, hunting for a trophy is just an ego thing" You can tell she grew up in a "meat hunting family"! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Thanks all, just for the sake of useless info, my wife has grown accustomed to my uncivilized ways, not that she likes them, its just that time has weakened her resistance. Her sister was here visiting from Germany. Her facial expressions were a combination of a Hitchcock movie with the up close grimaces of a spaghetti western when she and my wife returned form the mall and I greeted them with a carcass hanging in the garage over a wash tub full of blood and guts and me up to my elbows in same with a skinning knife remmoving deer internals. In her favor though, once I'd removed meat, cleaned it up, and brought to the house in several large basins she did help wrap it up so I could finish it all up the next day. Most likely will head out later today when it stops raining. I scouted a couple of excellent areas yesterday.

When in the past, I have come home dejected because I missed a nice Buck. My Wife gives me a side glance and says "Well Yeah, if you would have hit it, you would'nt be able to go again tomorrow." I think she's got me figured out.
My saving grace is that she loves Grouse. As long as I come back with 2 or 3 each trip. She's happy.

I am lucky I have a some what understanding wife. She does not mind the Luger or the forum. She says it is great that I have a hobby. Unfortunately she does keep a close eye on what I would like to buy. Something to do with the budget or some nonsense like that.

Anyway, she does like the hunting. The cow elk we got this year changed her mind on that.

Sorry Hugh, I have to agree with your wife. You can not eat the horns and all they do is get in the way. They look pretty though. I am just glad I do not have to dust them. <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

I found a real keeper. Here are the positives:
1. She supports and loves me
2. She takes very good care of my two girls and I.
3. She helps me with the Children's Ministry at our church.
4. She loves to shoot, competed next to me in some couples Bowling pin competitions (we won several of these) She was shooting a 40 Cal S&W Berretta 96.
5. She HAS HUNTED Pronghorn Antelope with a 25-06
(she missed but it was her "coaches.....gulp" fault in range determination).
6. She has purchased a Luger before.
7. She shares my love for spicy food.
8. She helps me in our restoration business.
9. She puts up with me.
10. She keeps me warm.
11. She has found me untrainable but loves me anyway.
12. She is a born again Christian.
13. On a Thanksgiving note, she eats my food, lol.

I dont deserve her but I guess the good Lord had pity on me due to my other horrible marriages, I was paroled early and got a real treasure too! I finally got the one that was "fit" for me!!
