I signed it. As a comment I said "let the Marines present judge his actions". These are good young men. They know right from wrong and will not stand for a political lynching or objectionable killing. I do hope his comrades judge his actions acceptable.

Do people forget that we are at WAR, or is this another "police action".
That young man wants to come home to his family,(not in a box) Just like every other young man over there he's doing what he was trained to do.

If we start second guessing every action they take to win the hearts of those who hate us anyway, WE HAVE ALREADY LOST, and the 1000+ who have already given all they can give, is in vain.

Why is it that most American people don't understand, we will be fighting these people in OUR back yards or theirs.

We have GOT to get those inbread reporters (inbedded reporters) out of our way & out of our Units that are trying to do a job. They have caused us nothing but trouble from the start. Even in Vietnam they caused us a lot of trouble. They are there only to aid in the criticism that our guys DON'T need. I hate those damn reporters & camera men.

No, but shooting a wounded man that you can't see their hands and don't know if he has a grenade or another weapon under him is justifiable enough for me. I'd rather have that Marine come home alive and in one piece than dead because he was thinking whether or not it's justifiable to shoot or not.

America has every right to be over there and our actions for it have been gone over & debated time and time again. It's way over do for us to start killing off these terrorist regimes (like Iraq was and Iran still is).

Hey it's war and that wounded guy should not have been there in the first place fighting us. He got what he deserved.

When America went to war against Afghanistan after 9/11, it was a justifiable thing to do. The world was on Americas side and many countries wanted help fighting those who did it. But a cold shoulder was then turned against those countries, it seemed for us like America wanted to fight alone. Still we joined the war, supporting America.

Later America started the war in Irak, claiming "weapons of mass destruction" and over-ruling UN weapons inspectors and the work for finding a peaceful solution. The result where thousands of civilians killed, no weapons of mass destruction where found and America’s relationship with the rest of the world is weakened.
Does America feel safer now than after 9/11? Does the people in Irak feel safer?

I have experienced war and the ugliness of death. And from my experience, it's true that violence causes more violence. The power of UN's work for peaceful solutions must therefore not be underestimated.

Don't get me wrong.. I like America. And I will probably fight besides America again, giving the Afganistan situation. But acting like world police, refusing to sign the Kyoto agreement, don’t paying back depth to other countries, refusing to ban landmines etc.. Is in my opinion not the right path for America.

I had a long discussion a few weeks back with a German WWII veteran. He was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944, captured by the British in 1945, and immigrated here in the 1950s. He is an extremely intelligent profesionally educated man. He also was emphatic that the US had no business entering WWII against Germany. I realize there are opinions which are contrary to ours but history has proven that allies are like leaves on a tree. They are very seasonal, sensitive to the weather, and they come and they go. History has proven the United States of America right. We have entered every conflict against the side of the oppressor, while not always sucessful we have voluntarily offered the lives of our fathers, brothers, sons and now mothers and daughters. We do what no other country, except the UK, is prepared to consistently do. In return the only thing we request is that people be allowed to determine their own destiny without the influence of despots and tyranny. The only land we have ever occupied after the war was over is a place to bury our dead. We were attacked on September 11th. Three thousand American civilians were murdered here. They would do it again 100 fold if they could. As a country we reelected GW Bush to make sure this will not happen again. The enemies of ths country are like southern fire ants. You cannot live with them, if you ignore them they will spread and attack. They will never stop until they either conquer or are destroyed.

The United Nations is an absolute joke. The very thought of letting countries the like of Zimbabwe, Syria or Viet Nam sit amongst democratic members and pontificate about human rights or global polution is preposterous.

The Kyoto Accord is nothing more than a scheme put together by a gaggle of nonachievers to hobble the US economic engine.

I believe we should move the UN Headquarters to Port au Prince and see how they can manage Haiti.

Opinion of the European public to the US has been directed by the stances of their governments and the United Nations. The reason for the world government opposition to the war in Iraq is now under intense investigation via the UN Oil for Food program and the billions of dollars missing.

Let us wait and see what comes of this investigation. I believe that it will be devastating to Europe and the United Nations.

Thinking back, was it right going to war in Vietnam? And was it right to use "weapons of mass destruction" in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Killing and wounding 229 000 sivilian people?
The list is long.. and not always that noble as you are refering to.

Hope it's not the general opinion that Americas allies are like leaves on a tree. Sometimes we disagree. That's what friends do sometimes, that don't make us enemies. Like in the Irak war issue.

We defend our allies, always. Starting a war and going besides the UN is a different issue.

Most Europeans have great interest in what’s going on in the world, know where to place Iraq on the map and we believe in peaceful solutions where ever it is possible. Many European countries have been occupied during WW2, we know what it's like.
UN has helped stabilizing peace all over the world, it's not in any way a joke.
