Post Gunbroker gun

http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/Vie...?Item=11220841

Okay, lets look at this auction, and not tear this poor soul apart too bad, just to learn from it. {hopefully no one on the forum}

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva"> This is a RARE wartime ARTILLERY Luger that was modified per Post-Versailles mandate to the new standard size ( hence the mismatched number on the toggle, as it needed one with a rear sight)with no date on the receiver. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">I don't know about "RARE", but a bit unusual, plus from what I have seen in my limited collecting, the armorory putting a new toggle on would "match" it to the rest of the gun.

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Thery were intended for use by the Reichswehr and Police after the war. NO left-side block sear! </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">True, and it could be a police, as the sear safeties were not placed unitl after 1933, but unless it was stolen, it is unlikely that it is a police, but if I could see the markings...

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">The "geschigert" word behind the safety-lever retains most of its white finish. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">I can't spell this without looking at one either...

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">NICE original walnut grips are hot stamped with some code lettering, which I am told has something to do with either Reichswher or Police unit issue. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">I think I have seen this marking before?

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">It has numerous unit markings and several markings from a Machinegun team.</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">I'd like to see what the other markings are?

On the other hand, it is at $600, No Reserve, so price is not too bad, has a mismatched toggle, but looks like a nice gun from the one picture, and at AOL he goes by GOARMY65, so, he must be a good guy, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

A word of advice... the magazine shown is one of those crappy "Made in Mexico" aluminum bottomed mags... I wouldn't own another one...

Lousy construction, poor spring and sharp edges... If you buy this gun... save a few bucks for a couple of good aftermarket mags like Triple-K or Mec-Gar

just my ...
